Membership EligibilityMembership Eligibility
• Students - All UNC Charlotte students who are currently enrolled and present a UNC Charlotte ID Card prior to entry into the facilities may access any of the recreational areas at no charge except for students who are taking only 1 credit hour (please see Thesis Students). During the summer, students who were enrolled in the spring and who are enrolled for the upcoming fall semester (and who are not enrolled in summer school) may continue their fitness programs by purchasing a Student Gold membership at a reduced rate of $46.50. They must continue to present their UNC Charlotte ID cards plus the membership card in order to access the facility. • Spouse - The Spouse of retired UNC Charlotte Faculty/Staff is eligible for membership if the retired Faculty/Staff has a current membership. The SAC membership may be equal in value to (or less than) the SAC membership of the Faculty/Staff member. The Spouse must present a government issued picture identification with his/her membership card to enter the facility. • Domestic partner - Domestic partners of current UNC Charlotte Faculty/Staff are eligible for membership. A partner must obtain a current dependent UNC Charlotte ID card or a government issued picture identification to present with the membership card when entering the facility. If Faculty/Staff sponsor becomes ineligible, partner membership will be voided. Partner must file affidavit of domestic partnership with the Office of Human Resources before eligibility can be established (see Schedule E,F). Domestic partners of retired UNC Charlotte Faculty/Staff are eligible for membership if the retired Faculty/Staff has a current membership. • Thesis Students-- Students taking a 1 credit hour class that ends with (7999 or 9999-these classes are for research or thesis {also, non-graded}) are not paying student fees. These are the ones that need to purchase a Student Gold Membership for $46.50 per semester. • University Affiliates (i.e., a member of a group contracted by the university, operating from offices located on campus, and whose primary function is to serve the university community; ex: Chartwells) on a ongoing basis or a group designated by the Chancellor as a University Affiliate - Employees of affiliate groups may purchase memberships if they hold current UNC Charlotte ID cards and provide confirmation of their employment. Spouses and children of these affiliates may not purchase memberships; however, the affiliate member may sponsor them as a guest. • Graduate Students who are currently registered only for continuing thesis hours. |
